Meanwhile, a ruthless Russian mob family is attempting to take over Hell's Kitchen by finding and hiring a "fixer" named Leland Owlsley, better known as The Owl. Murdock ends up crossing paths with the Owl and his henchmen in a confrontation that results in the death of an innocent bystander.

Later, Murdock and Nelson investigate the death and discover that the victim was a young girl. After some digging, they find out that the girl was working for the Russian mob family and discover a file the girl was sent to deliver to the Owl. As Murdock and Nelson work together to figure out the meaning of the file, the Russian family's true intentions, and the identity of the Owl are revealed.
