- not put anything in her vagina, such as douches or lubricants, for 24 hours before the test;
- not have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before the test.
Types of Vaginitis Test - Wet Mount

- Direct Wet Mount – This test identifies yeast and bacteria in the slide. It also helps to identify certain parasites and motile bacteria.
- Gram Stain – This test helps to identify the presence of bacteria in the slide. It involves a special dye that is used to make certain bacteria appear purple in colour under the microscope.

- The sample is placed on a slide and mixed with a special stain.
