What is Pain Biliary?

Pain biliary is a common type of abdominal pain, caused by inflammation of the bile ducts inside the gallbladder, which is located in the right upper abdomen. Bile is a digestive fluid produced by the liver that helps to break down fat in food. Pain biliary can be either mild and last only for a few hours, or it can be intense and last for several days.

Signs and Symptoms of Pain Biliary

Pain biliary can be sharp, burning, or cramping and may be felt in the right shoulder blade area. Other symptoms associated with pain biliary include:

  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
  • Dark urine
  • Abdominal bloating

Causes of Pain Biliary

Pain biliary can have a variety of causes, such as:

  • Gallbladder inflammation (cholecystitis)
  • Gallstones blocking bile ducts
  • A viral or bacterial infection
  • Tumors or other growths such as liver cysts
  • A condition that affects the pancreas, such as pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer
