What are Stomach Cramps?

Causes of Stomach Cramps

  • Lactose intolerance: People who are lactose intolerant lack an enzyme needed to break down lactose, which can result in stomach cramps.
  • Food poisoning: Eating foods that have been contaminated with bacteria, viruses, or parasites can cause an upset stomach, vomiting, and stomach cramps.

Prevention

The best way to prevent stomach cramps is to practice good hygiene and eat a balanced, healthy diet. To reduce the risk of food poisoning, make sure you cook food thoroughly and store it correctly. If you're lactose intolerant, try avoiding dairy products or look for lactose-free alternatives.
